Today I had my first meeting with a "Wellness Coach." Work (W) provides a free program through a partner organization that offers wellness coaching. Since my funds are limited and since I can't seem to make any health changes on my own, I thought I would give the program a try.
I like my coach, LH, and appreciate her encouragement. She checked my weight, measured my cholesterol and sugar levels, took my blood pressure, checked my resting heart rate, and measured my waist. Next we discussed where I'm at health-wise, some of the issues that have prevented my being able to exercise and keep my weight down, and what "baby steps" I could possibly take to begin my journey to a healthier me.
Our session ended with the goal of trying to fit 1-3, 5-10 minutes walks in each day and to make an appointment with a dietitian (also free, Yay!). I'm hopeful that the coaching, along with having started counseling with a counselor this week regarding emotional issues will provide the impetuous I need to slowly, but surely become healthy.
